No course in business school taught me how to pay attention to the sensations in my body as a way to access more data and wisdom.

Fast forward 20 years and I’m just now learning how to access the wisdom of my body sensations as a tool staying more present in the moment and making better decisions.

Over the past 4 decades, there is great research on how our bodies store trauma and how we can release the charge that builds when our bodies go into fight, flight, or freeze mode.

Peter Levine writes: “Physical sensations are the very foundation of human consciousness.” (From his book: “In An Unspoken Voice: How the Body Releases Trauma and Restores Goodness.”)

So why is it that so few of us learn how to become more aware of body sensations?

Now when I work with leaders and teams, I teach them how to access three forms of intelligence, otherwise known as IQ, EQ, and BQ.

IQ = rational mind, thoughts

EQ = emotional intelligence

BQ = body intelligence

Leaders who have access to all three centers of intelligence stay more present, communicate more effectively, and make better decisions.

I’m curious about which of the 3 centers of intelligence you access regularly. If you’d like to learn more about how to access body intelligence, let’s have a chat.
